Universal Music Group and Google today announced a deal to keep Universal's music available for user-generated content on YouTube, along with a plan to move its music videos offsite to a new (and hopefully more lucrative) home.
Branded like the love child of Vimeo and Bebo, "Vevo" will segregate Universal's music video content out from the YouTube ghetto and into a clean, well-lit, and leafy suburb. (Unfortunately, in a bit of branding that comes right from the WiMAX and SIXAXIS school of thought, the site is actually referred to as VEVO.)
