The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) is more than ready to wow the public with their 802.11-based Bluetooth 3.0 specification this April 21st. Initial reports point toward Bluetooth 3.0 being faster and more reliable when it comes to data transfers, allowing us to move entire music libraries and DVD movies in a matter of seconds. When compared with current Bluetooth specifications, the up-rated data transfer speeds could revolutionize the way Bluetooth connectivity is used. It is able to automatically switch to the 802.11 (Wi-Fi) protocol whenever large file transfers are involved, but this might mean purchasing a whole bunch of peripherals all over again since the paired device will need to boast integrated 802.11 Wi-Fi radios within. Bluetooth 3.0 will also boast Enhanced Power Control (EPC) that does away with accidental device disconnects caused by placing the device in a pocket or purse.
